J and I have the travel bug. Bad. We always do, but lately, between the house on the market and the world the way it is and losing people far too early, we’ve been spending a lot of time talking about it. We’re not going anywhere, at least not yet, but it’s become our new favorite game. If our life allowed…
Where in the world should J and J go?
We talk about staying in the states mostly. Do we hit Philly, a dream for both of us, a city we both adore, and close enough to family without trying to finance a studio apartment in NYC? Or do we stay midwest, and live in Pilsen, a southside neighborhood in Chicago, filled with lofts, great food, great artists…and close enough to MI to maintain the shop, the band, the life we know so well. West Coast? Cali comes up a bit, though less lately…but the warmth and the ocean and the fact that we’ve both always wanted to live there are seriously enticing.
But then there’s Europe. We have always had a major jonesing to live in Italy for a year, spending time between Florence and Tuscany. I’d cook, he’d play, and clearly in this particular fantasy we have won Powerball. Daring to dream.
Perhaps South America? Maybe Buenos Aires, where we could spend our time between the city and the sea, eating and working and drinking. Again, with the Powerball.
It’s a fun dream, and a fun game to play in the January snow. Want to play?
