While we at Greenbush make tweaks and decision on the brewery blog, I’ve decided to take full advantage of your open and loving readership to use Eat it. Drink it. for both, on occasion.
Things have been an insane, happy, crazy, delightful whirlwind since the liquor license arrived June 10. I’m fairly certain none of us have stopped moving for long enough to catch our breath, but in the best way possible. We’ve brewed at least 5 times a week, if not more, and are making adjustments, improvements, and additions every day.
The beer is speaking for itself, or at least I’m guessing given the nonstop crowds of people hanging in our little taproom. Our bartending staff has grown from 2 -7 in a matter of weeks. The mug club, Friends with Benefits? Finally officially up and running, with killer mugs finding their way into our club members hands. Our t-shirts, which are multiplying like gremlins, are up on our website, allowing all of you out of Sawyer’s reach to get one and get it soon. New glasses, new merch, new everything.
If you’re a fan, or a frequent customer, you know we can’t just keep things simple. We’ve started our lab beers, and we’ve had at least 2 on tap every week. The guys in the back are having a great time playing around with new ideas and old, fruit beers and Belgian-styles, and by the time fall rolls around you’ll be seeing some serious experimenting going on. Joe/Carlos’ “The Coug” Oatmeal Stout was so well received we hope to make a full batch, and Joe’s Blueberry Ale went strong and fast, with rave reviews. We’ve just placed our first beer in our first official barrel from Journeyman Distillery–and a barrel-Aged Retribution should be ready in the taproom in a few months.
We’re working, hard. We’ve got chef collaborations, big food events like Taste of the Nation, and the U.P. and Detroit Beer Festivals coming up. We’re working on larger distribution as the days go on, and can’t wait for more of you to not have to travel so far to enjoy.
But, for now, since you need to travel, and summer has reached its midway point, how can you not stop by for a pint of Anger, Retribution, or anything else?
You never know what delights await…Beastie Boys Friday anyone?
