Slowly but surely, my life is becoming solely about beer. I’ve never claimed to be balanced. In fact, I pride myself on going as deeply into tasks as I can, focusing all the energy I can muster, making sure things are successful. It’s part of my charm, I suppose.
So today, on my first day off in 11 days, I find myself thinking about work. About plans for the summer, beers to come, farm dinners and collaborations. And basking in the glow of this past weekend.
We opened, and it was a scene. Friday night’s friends and family opening was incredibly successful, a great learning experience, and somewhat hilarious. But it readied us, and more specifically me, for Saturday. We opened the doors at noon, and until 10:30pm, when we locked the front door, we had no less than 30 people at all times. A fact that has more impact when you realize that we’re only allowed to have 32 people in the taproom at one time. Insanity to the enth degree, in the best way possible.
My entire body hurts from the rush of the weekend, my hands are dry as can be from washing glass after glass after glass after glass, and my mouth needs a serious break from beer.
But I have a sense of accomplishment I haven’t felt in as long as I can remember, and a sense of excitement I haven’t had since marrying J. My body is a buzz with electric, excited energy, and I can’t wait to coordinate the chaos.
Not today though. Today? I’m spending time with my husband outside the brewery, and hopefully cooking something. All about relaxation baby.
So tell me. What’s your favorite thing to do on a much needed day off?
